The Vegan Community in Tokyo
Tokyo's food culture, rooted in Buddhist shojin ryori (temple cuisine), has deep connections to plant-based eating. The Japanese capital is experiencing a vegan boom, with new plant-based restaurants opening in Shibuya, Shimokitazawa, and Roppongi. From vegan ramen to plant-based sushi, Tokyo proves that Japanese cuisine can be both traditional and compassionately modern.
VGN Social connects vegans across Tokyo and Japan. Find friends, discover vegan events, and explore the best plant-based restaurants in the world's largest metropolis. Download the app today.
